Centre for Climate Change Studies (CCCS)

The Centre for Climate Change Studies located in the International Research Centre at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University), has been established in the year 2011 with the primary mandate of investigating the impact of climate change on the eco-biology of marine ecosystems and organisms

Major activities:

  • Understanding the effects of global climate change on marine organisms in various ecosystems

  • Accessing the response of micro-plankton, macroalgae, shrimps and other crustaceans using multidisiplinary approach including genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, biochemical and physiologial analysis.

  • Carbon sequestration potential of marine microalgae and macroalgae,

  • Adaptive potential and its mechanisms in marine organisms.

  • Biomineralization of marine invertebrates - in response to ocean acidification.

  • Long term monitoring of selected coastal sites for biotic and abiotic changes.
